For the second time in a row, SIM GE clinched the top spot in the Tata Crucible: Campus Quiz held on 26 October 2018. SIM-University Of London students, Shalini Gupta and Muthyala Rajendra Vikhyat, who first triumphed as a team in the previous edition of the competition held earlier in February this year went up against 96 other teams from universities and institutions across Singapore in this edition. The National University of Singapore took the first runner-up spot while Nanyang Technological University claimed the second runner-up position.

The TATA Crucible Campus Quiz is part of Tata’s engagement with the youth as a knowledge initiative to encourage lateral associations, speed of thought and out-of-the-box thinking. The Singapore edition offers the local student community an opportunity to learn about international business in an engaging and stimulating manner.

The SIM GE team were trailing in the first two rounds but the duo were able to fend off stiff competition and bounced back to claim the championship title in the final round. Shalini and Muthyala walked away with $7,000 (SGD) in prize money along with the champions trophy.

The duo have had a keen interest and passion for such competitions and have been preparing for themselves for such quizzes since five years back to pit themselves against the best teams.
“Being consistent is always the key to prepare for quizzes such as TATA Crucible as it requires you to be familiar with news. Staying up to date with changes in the economy and business environment in a global context always helps,” shares Shalini.

Both Shalini and Muthyala are looking forward to competing in the International Finals which will be held in India next April. Vikhyat says: “I would tell you the quiz is about knowledge for me, but I'd be lying. The quiz to me is a sport. One that is packed with a rush of adrenaline and a lot of camaraderie from the quizzing community. That keeps me looking forward to every next one.”
