Coming Home to Give Back

A simple but heartwarming ceremony on a balmy evening on 29 January 2016 was the scene for the recognition of the pioneer batches of SIM Global Education (GE) alumni mentors. Since 2012, the Alumni Mentorship Programme had garnered a pool of 36 mentors from its pool of global alumni who benefited close to 100 of the best and brightest students in SIM GE.

Into its fifth season now, the programme had been further enhanced into three tiers to cater to the entire spectrum of more than 133,000 alumni to give back, like those honoured that night. Announcing the new tiers was Dr Lee Kwok Cheong, CEO of SIM GE who said to a chorus of cheers from the mentor-mentee audiences that "the SIM GE way of alumni contribution is one that cannot be measured by monetarily unlike most of the universities... we are asking you to give your time, experience and contacts to help our students to be career ready!"

Recent graduates from SIM GE can now become a mentor under the Peer Achievers & Leaders Mentorship programme or PALM in short. Early-to mid-career alumni with more years of work experience will now come under the Structured Alumni Mentorship programme or SAM. Senior alumni at the pinnacle of their careers will give back under the Corporate Achievers & Leaders Mentorship Programme or CALM.

As the stardust settles, we now look to the 24 new mentors and 8 returning ones to grow, glow and go the journey with their mentees.
