Bachelor of Nursing (Post-Registration)

The programme is developed, taught and awarded by The University of Sydney, Australia and accredited by Singapore Nursing Board

Tertiary foundation in nursing

Nursing, one of the noblest professions in history, is usually associated with practical on-the-job training rather than a university-based academic course of study.

Now, with the University of Sydney’s Bachelor of Nursing programme, state-registered nurses will have the opportunity to acquire a strong tertiary foundation in the discipline of nursing.

In this programme, nurses develop their professional identity and confidence as part of the overall healthcare team.

The programme of study is structured to give you time to think critically and read extensively throughout the semester.

It provides talented students with the opportunity to study for two additional years to graduate with honours and potentially progress to doctorial work.

Job Prospects:

At the end of the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-Registration) programme, students will have:

    • Gained a greater understanding of the role of nursing in the provision of health care globally

    • Gained an appreciation of the value of research to practice and an ability to translate research into practice

    • Developed enhanced skills for critical thinking in relation to nursing practice and advanced their skills of problem solving in clinical practice

    • Developed greater clinical and professional leadership as the nursing workforce skill mix changes as nursing moves into the 21st century.

The programme comprises 8 units of study, each worth six credit points. You choose to study over 1-year or 2-year (Part-Time).

Students are expected to attend six weeks of classes in each semester in the first year and four weeks of classes in each semester in the second year.

Mode of delivery

The programme is delivered in a block mode with face-to-face teaching hours for both lectures and tutorials. It is fully taught by University of Sydney faculty members.

Students are required to have access to the Internet on a regular basis for eLearning purposes.

Each unit of study includes lectures, tutorials, student presentations and specified independent learning activities (e.g. online activities, directed readings, written assignments, worksheets or research activities).
