In digital marketing, there’s no pause button

This programme will equip you with the latest knowledge and understanding of applications, techniques and digital technologies to stay ahead in the world of marketing. This programme comprises of taught modules, a mandatory industrial placement (24-week) and a dissertation.

Teaching Faculty

Faculty from the University of Southampton. They deliver the same module they teach in the UK, ensuring equivalent academic input for the programme at SIM. 

Mode of Delivery

The programme follows a structured curriculum that is delivered over two years through blended learning.

Blended learning comprises of lectures, tutorials, computer simulation, online learning, consultations, etc.

Modules are delivered one at a time, typically over three to four weeks. The first two and a half weeks are intensive teaching in the form of lectures and tutorials, followed by self-revision and the preparation of assessed coursework/exams. 

You will be expected to spend part of your time working independently or in groups, unsupervised by the teaching faculty.

Each lesson is typically two hours for lectures; one hour for tutorials.

Duration & Candidature Period

The programme is designed to be completed within 24 months. Students may take up to 48 months to complete the programme.

There will not be any refund or recourse should students fail to complete the programme within the candidature period.

Minimum Class Size

Minimum class size to commence: 40 students

If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, applicants will be informed within one month before programme commencement. 


Entry Requirements

This is a two-year programme, offered on an advanced standing basis for local Polytechnic Diploma holders.

Academic Qualification Requirement

  • Diploma in Accounting / Banking and Finance / International Business / Management Studies awarded by SIM; or
  • Business related Diplomas from local Polytechnics; or
  • Non-Business related Diplomas from local Polytechnics with successful completion of the SIM Preparatory Course in Business (UOSMS).
  • All other qualifications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

English Proficiency Requirement

  • SIM Diploma and local Polytechnic graduates will be deemed to have reached the required language standard; or
  • IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in all bands).

Preparatory Course in Business (UOSMS)

Applicants with a Diploma from local Polytechnics who have not completed all areas of study as listed in the four modules below, are required to complete and pass a three-month SIM Preparatory Course in Business (UOSMS) for entry into the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marketing programme.

The preparatory course is developed and awarded by SIM, Singapore.

University of Southampton may require applicants to complete a minimum of one and up to a maximum of four modules, per intake.

Preparatory Course – Module Synopses

Mode of Delivery

Blended learning comprises of face-to-face lectures and online learning. Lessons are typically 3 hours, and some classes take place in the evenings.


Students will be assessed at the end of the preparatory course in July/August. The modules are assessed either by written exams, coursework or a combination of both.


A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successfully passing of the Preparatory Course in Business (UOSMS).

Minimum Class Size

Minimum class size to commence: 25 students

If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, students will be informed within one month before programme commencement.

Preparatory Course in Business (UOSMS): Lecturers & their Teaching Modules 

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marketing: Lecturers & their Teaching Modules 



To progress to final year, students must

  • achieve an average of at least 40%;
  • pass at least six modules at 40%;
  • have no module marks below the Qualifying Mark (25%); and
  • meet the assessment requirements for the placement at 40% or more.

Assessment & Exams

Modules are assessed either by written exams, coursework or a combination of both. Coursework can take a variety of forms including assignments, presentations, projects etc. Some coursework may be group-based. Where an examination is involved, this will take place at the end of a module. Exams will be held in SIM HQ.

The assessment schedule is subject to change by the University. 

Students will need to complete and pass the industrial placement and 10,000 word dissertation.


  • Project work will be supervised and assessed by the University of Southampton's guidelines and standards
  • Completed projects will be moderated by a senior staff from the University of Southampton to ensure consistency

Attendance Requirement

Local students – 75%
International students – 90%

Note: If the minimum requirement is not met, student will not be permitted by the University to sit for final exam. 

Award & Graduation

Accumulate the required number of credits as stipulated in the University Regulations for the taught part of the programme and a mark of 40% for the individual dissertation/project to attain the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marketing awarded by University of Southampton.

A degree congregation ceremony presided by the University Southampton is normally held each year in January at SIM. Alternatively, graduates can choose to attend the degree congregation in the UK.
